THE EVER LIVING ONE

Jesus Christ the Son of God,
O yes, O yes
Halleluyah He arose,
O yes, O yes
Halleluyah He arose, the Prince of peace arose
Halleluyah He arose,
O yes, O yes.

“Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” (Luke 24:1-7).

Jesus Christ is ever alive. He is ever the Living One. He never belongs to the dead. That He was crucified and died on the cross, He only did so in order to fulfill a mandate. He needed to have a taste of death for us. He only had a brief experience of death that lasted just 3 days. He died for us. He laid down His life for our sake. But His place was never among the dead.
That those women were searching for Him among the dead was therefore considered a foolish, impertinent and absurd employment. To think that Jesus would still be in the grave after the third day was a blatant error borne out of ignorance. He did not belong there. The Living One should not be sought for among the dead. The living does not belong to the company of the dead.

In the same way,

1. You, a believer in Christ, no longer belong to where you used to be. You are a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17). You are translated from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of the living God (Colossians 1:13). You now belong to the company of the saints (1 Peter 2:9). You are no more earthly but heavenly. You are made seated with Christ in the heavenly realms, far above principalities and powers and dominions. You do not belong down here. You belong above. Whosoever seeks for you where you do not belong engages himself in absurd employment.

2. That you found yourself in a situation that is unpalatable and contrary does not mean you will remain there forever. As a believer in Christ, you do not belong to that adverse situation you found yourself in. You are not meant to remain there forever. You are not destined for adversity. An adage in Yoruba says, “Dídà ló dà lọmọ dé ẹ̀gbẹ́, ẹ̀gbẹ́ kì í ṣe ilé ọmọ”. That is not your place. Just like Jesus tasted death for us, so are you made to have a taste of that situation for a reason. It is just a brief experience that will soon pass away. Yes, it will soon pass away.

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;” (2 Corinthians 4:17)

And just as it was impossible for death to keep Christ in its grip (Acts 2:24), so it is impossible for any adverse situation to keep you in its grip. It is impossible for that sickness to keep you in its grip. It is impossible for poverty to keep you in its grip. It is impossible for that generational curse to keep you in its hold. The power of resurrection releases you now from every grip of adversity in Jesus’ Name.

This Easter, I see God doing something great in your life. I see Him changing everything about you for the best. Will you join us to pray the following points of prayer together:

  • O LORD, let your power of resurrection roll away today every stone or mark sealing my destiny with adversity in Jesus’ Name.
  • I declare in Jesus’ Name that it is impossible for sin, or spiritual death, or sickness, or poverty to keep its hold on me.
  • O LORD, release of from the agony of sin, sickness and poverty; and raise my life up.
